Running into trouble? Here are the solutions to the most common issues reported by users.

Step 1: Dashboard Not Appearing in Sidebar

If you can’t see the “Client Dashboard” or “Admin Dashboard” link in your WordPress menu:

  • Is it enabled? Ensure the “Enable Dashboard” toggle is set to ON in the respective settings tab.
  • Permissions: Check the Access Roles and Access Users list. If your current user account isn’t in those lists, the menu item will be hidden from you.
  • Menu Refresh: Occasionally, WordPress needs a page refresh after saving settings for the menu to update.

Step 2: Login Redirect Not Working

If users are still landing on the standard WordPress `/wp-admin/` page after login:

  • Check the Toggle: Ensure Enable Login Redirect is ON for that specific dashboard.
  • User Access: The redirect only triggers if the user has been granted access to that dashboard.
  • Plugin Conflicts: Some security or membership plugins (like Wordfence or MemberPress) may have their own redirect logic that overrides ours. Check their settings if the issue persists.

Step 3: Imported Notes Not Showing Up

If you imported a JSON file but the dashboard is empty:

  • Overwrite Settings: If you unchecked “Overwrite Duplicates” during import, and notes with those titles already existed, the importer may have skipped them.
  • Note Status: Ensure the imported notes are set to ‘Published’ status. If they were imported as ‘Drafts,’ they won’t appear on the dashboard grid.

Step 4: License Key Won’t Activate

If you receive an error when entering your license key:

  • Spelling: Double-check that there are no extra spaces at the beginning or end of the pasted key.
  • Site Limit: Ensure you haven’t reached the site limit for your plan (e.g., 5 sites for the Starter plan). You can manage your activations in your account at brightsol.nl.
  • Connection: Ensure your server can communicate with `brightsol.nl`. Some strict firewall or security settings on your host may block the activation request.

Step 5: CSS Changes Not Applying

If your Custom CSS isn’t changing the look of the dashboard:

  • Specificity: You may need to use more specific CSS selectors or add `!important` to your rules to override the default styles.
  • Caching: If you use a caching plugin (like WP Rocket) or a server-side cache (like Cloudflare), ensure you clear the cache after saving your CSS.
