Import, Export & Sync

Plugin: Bright Dashboard Pro
Category: Content & Migration

For agencies managing a portfolio of sites, the Migration Tools are a massive time-saver. You can build a “Master Dashboard” once and deploy it to every new client site in seconds.

Step 1: Exporting Your Setup

The export tool bundles your settings and content into a single, lightweight JSON file.

  1. Navigate to Bright Dashboard > Migration Tools.
  2. Export Settings: Select this to save your branding, logos, and access permissions.
  3. Export Notes: Choose whether to export All Notes, just Client Notes, or just Admin Notes.
  4. Click Download Export File.

Step 2: Importing to a New Site

Once you have your JSON file, you can “sync” that setup to any other site where Bright Dashboard Pro is installed.

  1. On the destination site, go to Bright Dashboard > Migration Tools.
  2. Click Choose File and select your `.json` export.
  3. Overwrite Duplicates? Toggle this ON if you want to replace existing dashboard notes with the ones from your import file.
  4. Click Import Dashboard Data.

Important: The import process will automatically detect if you have used the same note titles before. If “Overwrite Duplicates” is OFF, it will smartly skip notes that already exist to prevent clutter.

Step 3: The “Master Dashboard” Workflow

Many agencies use a “Template Site” to manage their documentation.

  1. Create a clean WordPress installation.
  2. Setup your standard “Welcome” notes, “Brand Guidelines” card, and “Support Contact” cards.
  3. Export this setup.
  4. Keep the JSON file in your internal agency folder.
  5. Every time you launch a new client project, simply import this file to give them an instant, professional dashboard.

4. What is Included in the Sync?

  • ✅ All branding settings (Logos, Credits, Titles).
  • ✅ All layout settings (Alignment, Icons, Labels).
  • ✅ All content (Notes, Titles, Embeds, HTML/CSS).
  • ❌ Uploaded Logo Files
  • ❌ Access Roles/Users (These are site-specific and must be set manually on the new site).
